How to get the Sighthound app working on your iPhone on a Local Area Network

This functionality is only available to paid Sighthound Video Editions, the free Trial Edition can not do this.

Acceptable Editions:

    Pro Edition

    Home Edition

    Basic Edition

Before you begin, make sure that your Sighthound Video computer and your iPhone are connected to the same network.

Check the Network settings on both to verify that the active wifi networks are the same.

If your computer has an ethernet connection, your iPhone must be using the WiFi on the same network.

To access Sighthound Video remotely, your Network Router and Firewall will need to be set up with port forwarding.

This remote access configuration will be covered in a different knowledge base article.

You will need the following data from Sighthound Video to connect the Sighthound app:

    1. The "Login user ID"

    2. The "Login password"

    3. The "IP:port" of the computer that is running Sighthound Video

Open the Sighthound Video application on your computer.

On a Mac, Select menu option "Sighthound Video => Preferences"

On Windows, Select menu option "Tools => Options"

Select the tab "Remote Access"

Take note of the "Login user ID" - add one if the field is blank

The "Login password" is not shown in clear text. If you do not remember it, you can add a new one here now.

The "Internal address" is listed along with other addresses, you need the IP address, and the port number.

For a display of "Internal address:    https://192.168.1.223:8848" - You will use "192.168.1.223:8848" later, for IP:port.

On your iPhone, open the App Store and search for "Sighthound" there.

The icon for the "Sighthound" app, is a rounded white square with a black silhouette of a dog.

Download and open the Sighthound app on your iPhone.

You will be asked to "Sign In" - Press the blue bar

Enter the 3 fields

IP Address Port - Use the IP:port you obtained earlier

Username - Use the "Login user ID" from above

Password - Use the "Login password" from above

Press the "Sign In" blue button after filling in the fields above.
