These instructions are for Mac computers, NOT Linux or Windows.

You need to have been given a download link to the "dmg" file in order to to proceed.

Every computer might be set up differently, and these steps are based on mine.
You might not see the exact same things as described here, as you proceed.

Good luck, and if you get stuck, reach out to us for help.

Before you begin, it's a good idea to reduce the clutter on your screen.
Close or minimize any window that you are not using, especially any Finder windows.

Click the link to the "dmg" file that you were given, to begin the download process

This opens a browser tab, in the middle is a frame that says "No preview available"

* Firefox *: Will not work for this download
If the Firefox browser is your default browser, it will open at this point.
Close that Firefox window, since it will not work.
Right click on the link above, and choose "Copy Link" from the pop up menu.
Find and open the Safari Browser.
There is a field on the top of the window that says "Search or enter website name"

Right click in that field and select "Paste and Go" from the pop up menu.

========

Click the blue button that says "Download"

This opens a new tab in the browser, and sits there for a minute or so.

After a bit, the tab will say something about "can't scan this file"

Click the blue button that says "Download anyway"

This starts the actual download of the installer, most likely into your Downloads folder

At this point, each browser acts a bit differently for the next step.

A Finder window now appears with 3 items in it (you might not see the .url and .app)
Applications - shortcut to your Applications folder

Sighthound Video.app - This is the application we are installing

Drag "Sighthound Video.app" to the "Applications" shortcut to install it on your hard drive.

If you already have it installed, you will now see a dialog indicating that it already exists.
It is asking if you want to replace it with this new one.

Go ahead and click on the "Replace" button.

If Sighthound Video is running, you will get a warning saying that it is in use.

Click "OK" and Quit Sighthound Video, so you can try that drag to Applications again.

You will get a dialog about the file copy that will disappear after a few seconds.

Close the Sighthound Video installer window.

Click the red dot in the top left corner of the window.

At this point, you should start Sighthound Video.

You can find it in your "Applications" folder or in Launchpad or in your Dock.

Double click on the Sighthound Video dog icon to start it.

Since you just downloaded it, there will be a confirmation window the first time.

Click on the "Open" button to continue.

It is now going to complete the installation, and needs access to your system to do it.
A Dialog "SighthoundVideoLauncher wants to make changes" appears.

Enter the password that you use on this computer and press "OK" to continue.

Sighthound Video should now be running.

Select the menu item "Sighthound Video => About Sighthound Video"

This opens the "About Sighthound Video window, where you can verify the version.
